For even more flavour and fibre, we recommend adding some fruit (frozen fruit can be used instead of ice) such as raspberries (low fat, high fibre), blackberries (low fat, high fibre) or half a banana (low fat, high energy).
Just throw them in the blender with the protein powder and oat milk! Delicious!
*If used as a meal replacement the product is useful for the intended use only as part of an energy-restricted diet and that other whole-food meals should also form part of such a diet. It is important that adequate daily fluid intake is maintained also.*
Building and maintenance of lean muscle
The role of protein in the athlete’s diet has attracted much attention over the years.
Athletes require more protein than the lay population, and protein requirements should be tailored to reflect sport-specific and training-goal requirements.
It is especially important for vegan/ plant-based trainers and athletes to replace animal proteins effectively; Roar Potential® Ultra High Protein Powder will meet those protein demands perfectly.
The International Society of Sports Nutrition provides a protein recommendation of 1.4–2.0 g of protein per kg of body weight per day, which is likely to be appropriate for most athletic contexts.
For building and maintenance of lean muscle mass we recommend the following:
- Strength sports – Bodybuilding, Powerlifting, Sprinting, Rugby and Crossfit = 1.6 – 2.0g protein per kg of body weight per day.
- Endurance sports – Distance Running, Tennis, Cycling, Football, Triathlon = 1.4 – 1.6g protein per kg of body weight per day.
Supplemental protein should definitely be of interest to plant-based/ vegan athletes, particularly if achieving sufficient protein via wholefoods is either difficult or inconvenient.
To optimise protein intake in vegan/ plant-based diets, athletes must pay attention to the quality of protein consumed.
Roar Potential® Ultra High Protein Powder is a premium, dairy free, gluten free, all natural protein source, delivering an optimal 24g does of premium protein in every serving for lean muscle repair maintenance and growth.
Comparison with animal-based protein sources:
100g steak: 25g protein
100g chicken breast: 31g protein
100 g Roar Potential® Vegan/ Plant-Based Ultra High Protein Powder (see table below): 80g protein
